Behavioral Problems Among Adolescents

A recent Open Minds article discusses a report titled "National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-Being-Baseline Report," by RTI International and published by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation, Administration of Children and Families of the Federal Department of Health and Human Services. Key findings include:

  1. 52% of Children in Foster Care between the ages of 2-20 are at risk of a behavioral or emotional problem
  2. 79% of Children in a Group Home between the ages of 2-20 are at risk of a behavioral or emotional problem
  3. 45% of children in group homes or residential programs had inpatient behavioral health services in the past year
  4. 75% of children in group homes or residential programs received outpatient behavioral health services in the past year
