According to Adrian Gostick and Scott Christopher, "If people are having fun, they’re going to work harder, stay longer, maintain their composure in a crisis and take better care of the organization" (2016). Having fun at work can create a better environment, happier and more motivated employees. Laughing releases that "feel good" chemical in our brains and we start to associate work with a fun place to be.

Here are 6 reasons to have more fun in the workplace:

1. It stimulates creativity

2. It is a stress reliever

3. It increases productivity

4. Increases employee retention

5. Clients like enthusiasm!

6. It increases communication

Leaders, try to incorporate some fun into your meetings and engage your staff. "An increasing body of research demonstrates that when leaders lighten up and create a fun workplace, there is a significant increase in the level of employee trust, creativity and communication -- leading to lower turnover, higher morale and a stronger bottom line" Gostick & Christopher, 2016).

Laugh with your coworkers, tell those corny knock-knock jokes and keep smiling! In the end you'll be happier!
