I just read a really interesting article from The Daily Beast that discusses how hiring people with disabilities can improve productivity in your business. The article does a really nice job of summarizing some of the surrounding reasons for the study and why the study was published while providing context of what people with IDD have experienced in the job market. They include an interview with someone who experienced discrimination while looking for a job and showed how organizations like Best Buddies are helping overcome the stigma of hiring someone with disabilities.
The original study, which is also worth checking out, has some great facts and figures but didn't really provide the same background. The two biggest reasons that people with IDD added additional value were the level of motivation they had and adding to the inclusive nature of the organization.
