The OIG released its "Compendium of Priority Recommendations" yesterday.
In the Medicare Quality of Care and Safety Issues, three of the five recommendations affect nursing homes.
- Improve care and discharge planning
- Address harm to patients
- Questionable hospitalizations of residents
- Inappropriate drug use
- improve emergency preparedness and response
How tight are your protocols or procedures that cover these topics? Hospitalizations and Re-hospitalizations as well as anti-psychotic use have been a topic for a couple years now, but there is still work to do.
