Unlikely Cross-Overs: Prison Terminal - Hospice in Prison

Blog Post created by Katrina Ong Support on Jul 25, 2014

Last weekend, I watched a documentary called Prison Terminal that tells the story of a hospice care unit at the Iowa State Penitentiary. The documentary captured the story of a man dying in prison. People die everywhere. We often forget some of the more unconventional settings where people spend their last hours. The piece raises the question of what a dignified death is in an often abject setting. Can you imagine conducting a life review in that setting? Newsweek's fascinating article is linked below, and if you have access to HBO On demand, I definitely recommend viewing the film and engaging in contemplative discussion. Definitely a story I had not heard before.@
