Click the link above for a short inspiring clip featured on NPR about two unlikely heroes who stayed with Assisted Living residents in California after the organization closed for bankruptcy and other employees left because they were no longer getting paid. This incident led to the Residential Care for the Elderly Reform Act of 2014 in California. This act consist of 9 bills that among other provisions prohibits the reinstatement of a license when a licensee abandons residents, requires an administrator on-site 24/7, requires increased staff training, and creates a statutory Resident Bill of Rights.
