Assigning Certificates to Trainings

The most beautiful certificate in the world won't do you much good if your learners can't print it out.  Relias gives you two different ways to associate certificates with trainings.

Assigning One Certificate to Many Trainings

Since most certificates are associated with courses, we'll use that as our example here. The process is the same for training plans. To assign a certificate to a course or courses, simply select the Certificates tab from the Training & Enrollment menu. Next, select the Course or Training Plan in the Apply To column to assign this certificate to a training.

On the next screen you will then need to select + Add Courses to add all of the courses to which you would like to apply this certificate. Each certificate/course association in data must have a start and end date.  This will define the period during which course completions are permitted to retrieve the certificate.  You will need to provide beginning and end dates for this certificate to apply to each course associated.

The Custom Code features are intended for certificates that require certain information to vary on a course-by-course basis and is discussed in the Advanced Certificate Features section.

You can assign as many courses as you wish to a single certificate (and vice versa).

Assigning Multiple Certificates to a Single Course

After you have completed setting up your template, you can then assign it to a course by going to Training & Enrollment and then Modules & Enrollment.  You can then click on the relevant course and then select the Certificates tab. To add your certificate to the course, simply select the + Add Certificate icon.

Each certificate/course association in data must have a start and end date.  This will define the period during which course completions are permitted to retrieve the certificate.  In the below example, users who completed "Test Course" prior to 5/19/2013 would not be able to print the certificate, whereas a user who completed the course on or after that date would.

The Custom Code features are intended for certificates that require certain information to vary on a course-by-course basis and is discussed in the Advanced Certificate Features section.

You can assign as many courses as you wish to a single certificate (and vice versa).

Please be aware: You may only assign the certificates you create to your own courses and events.  You may not assign your certificates to Relias-owned courses.  For that reason, if you look at the certificates tab for a Relias owned course you will see a read-only page showing the certificates that Relias Learning has associated with that course and shared with your organization.

If you are working with training plans that are eligible to be associated with a certificate and you have already created at least one training plan-based certificate in your site, you will have the option to associate certificates with training plans. Associating a certificate with a training plan is simple, and can be completed by following the same steps you took to associate a single course with a certificate from the Certificate tab. You will only be able to associate training plan certificates with non recurring training plans and course certificate with individual courses. To identify which type a certificate is, simply look in the Assigned To column on the Certificate Tab. For more information on training plan certificates please see

Unique Features for Curriculum Certificates.
