Assigning Certificates to Selected Trainings
The most beautiful certificate in the world won't do you much good if your learners can't print it out. Relias gives you two different ways to associate certificates with trainings.
Assigning a Certificate to One or More Trainings
Since most certificates are associated with individual courses, we'll use that as our example here, however the process is the same for assigning a certificate to training plans.
To begin, go to Learning > Modules > Certificates.
From the certificate list, search for the custom certificate you have created.
In the "Apply To" column on the right hand side, select "course" if you are applying this to an individual course. Or select "training plans" if you are applying this to a training plan. **Please Note - You will only be able to apply certificates to a non recurring or a completion based dynamic Training Plan type.
On the next screen you will then need to select + Add Module(s) to add all of the modules to which you would like to apply this certificate.
The list will include all modules owned by your organization. You can narrow down the search by using the "All Module Types" filter. Select the course by using the checkbox.. The certificate application must have a start date, however, recommended best practice is that the certificate should also have an end date. This will define the period during which course completions are permitted to retrieve the certificate. Not providing an end date will mean the certificate is applied indefinitely.
Then click "Add" to add the module to your certificate.
On the next screen, you will see verification of what was selected. If you agree, select Save.
The Custom Code features are intended for certificates that require certain information to vary on a course-by-course basis, and is discussed in the Advanced Certificate Features article.
Assigning Multiple Certificates to a Single Course
You can assign as many courses as you wish to a single certificate (and vice versa). After you have completed setting up your custom certificate, you can then assign it to a course by going to Learning > Modules > Modules List. Search for the module you wish to apply the certificate to.
Click on the course title, and then select the certificates tab at the top. **Please note, you will not be able to attach a certificate to a Requirements Tracker
Select the +Add Certificates box.
Select the custom certificate you have already created by using the checkbox. The certificate application must have a start date, however, recommended best practice is that the certificate should also have an end date. This will define the period during which course completions are permitted to retrieve the certificate. Not providing an end date will mean the certificate is applied indefinitely.
Then click "Add" to add the module to your certificate. If you agree with your changes, please click Save.
The Custom Code features are intended for certificates that require certain information to vary on a course-by-course basis and is discussed in the Advanced Certificate Features section.
You can assign as many custom certificates as you want to your custom course.
Please be aware: You may only assign the certificates you create to the modules that your organization creates You may not assign your certificates to Relias-owned courses. For that reason, if you look at the certificates tab for a Relias owned course (courses beginning with REL in the course code), you will see a read-only page showing only the certificates that Relias has associated with that course and is included with your subscription.
If you are working with non recurring training plans that are eligible to be associated with a training plan certificate, and you have already created at least one training plan-based certificate in your site, you will have the option to apply them. Associating a certificate with a training plan is simple, and can be completed by following the same steps you took to associate a single course with a certificate from the Certificate tab. To identify which type a certificate is, simply look in the Apply To column on the Certificate Tab as shown at the top of this article (Learning > Modules > Certificates).
