We are all so busy with working. Then comes a holiday to plan for. Where will you eat for Thanksgiving?
We'll be eating at two places - my parents' house and my in-laws' house. Lots of turkey for us! Husband cooks, and he'll be making dressing and cranberry sauce to pass most likely.
I usually bring the green bean casserole. Possibly the easiest dish of the whole meal!
I will most likely be eating at the kids table again because there is never enough room at the "grown up table" for me. We have more fun at the kids table anyways.
Justin Grant, It is funny that you should say that. I was just thinking about that very thing last night. "Who should go at the kid's table"? My dining room is not large enough to hold both tables end to end. So, the kid's usually have a table close by.
We're not sure what we will be doing. Mom passed away last week, trying to decide on dates for the service, will probably end up being that weekend. I think winter coats, beer and steak on the campfire will do, as we have done on other holidays weather permitting!
Sarah, I am so sorry for your loss. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers this morning. I pray your holiday will be filled with warm memories and sweet times with your family. (& I love your beer, steak and campfire idea!)
Hi, Sarah. I am also sorry to hear that your mother has passed. I hope you will be surrounded by loved ones while you eat your steak and drink your beer. That sounds like an ideal low-maintenance holiday!
So sorry to hear of your loss
I am celebrating with my family tomorrow night because we are taking family cruise the day after Thanksgiving and the leftovers would go to waste. We are just eating at a restaurant on Thanksgiving day.
At sea! My family (4 kids), husband, and I are going on our first family cruise together, the week of Thanksgiving! Very excited - no food to buy, no prep, no cleanup!!!
Mary Cole My husband and I have gone on two cruises and love it! Our last cruise was the best so far. Looking forward to another. Let me know if they do anything special at Thanksgiving. That might be a possibility in the future.
I bring a huge and heavy apple pie homemade from a local Farm with ice cream and ginger bread men for the kids to my extended family's house.
Most of my family will be out of town this year so those of us still around have reservations at the top of the resort which has a wonderful menu for Thanksgiving!
My mother who is 88 still loves to cook and wants to do the big meal. We help he out with whatever she will let us.
Sometimes cooking is just in your blood John Atkinson. I arrived by my desire to cook from my grandmother and aunt. They were both wonderful cooks and we knew we were in for a nice treat when we went to one of their houses for a meal. I hope one of my grandchildren "catch" that from me. Here's hoping anyway.
at my house for sure... I like to cook for my family and friends..
Generally it is at my home. I have 2 firefighters and 2 nurses to try to work around their schedules which always makes it tricky. This year, the day available for everyone else is Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. But I have to work all day ~ so my daughter in law offered to have it this year on Wednesday evening! Winning!!
I cook at home. Only one son currently lives in the area. I moved from Iowa to Texas in 2009. This year I am debating on making a Texas dressing recipe instead of my regular Midwest version. New or old? What do ya think?
if I am eating at your place I would like to try your Midwest version..
I will send you the address! We eat (the first time) around noon central standard time.
That would be great .. we were in Texas couple days ago I droved a friend from Wisconsin all the way Arizona for 2 days 2 nights
